The task of finding a good baby sitter can be a daunting task
for many parents who have limited options. There are not too
many good resources available also there are some wise
approaches to take when selecting a baby sitter for your
family. Furthermore there are signs that indicate you may have
made the wrong choice.
The major step is finding the right person to care for your
child or children. A lot of parents simply dread leaving their
little tots with anyone at all, even professional daycare
providers. Leaving your little children in another person's
care is a difficult task but it is the right step to take to
ensure that your child build up a healthy attachment to you.
For those children in daycare, you may want to find out about
"parents' night out". There are a couple of daycare providers
who offer this service so the need for a baby sitter is not
required. My niece goes to daycare thrice each week. As for the
other two days I am her baby sitter. For one Saturday each month
her day care workers look after her for a nominal fee. This
wonderful service is a great resource for parents.
However not all daycare providers will offer a baby sitter
service. At times you may need a baby sitter on a night other
than the one selected by the company.
Your children may nothave grandparents who are physically fit to tend to theirneeds. Or maybe you could live far-off from friends and familyor just may not feel at ease bothering anyone who does not babysit professionally. What does a parent do?
It is vital to create a network. You can ask your neighbors andfriends who have children with similar ages as yours who theyuse. Another option is to make inquiries either at your localchurch or at work. Both these resources are useful and a greatway to find the right baby sitter in your locality.

Or is my child getting the right kind of care?Does this person really care about my child's comfort? Theseare all valid questions. Keep a close watch on your child's behavior. Are there timeswhen your child cry or get unreasonably upset when the babysitter arrives? Or is your child way too impatient for yourreturn? When you leave your kids with a babysitter do you genuinelyenjoy your time away?
Maybe I should rephrase that question. When was the last timeyou actually took some time for your partner and yourself byutilizing the services of a paid babysitter whom you trustedand the kids loved?
Or...are you simply scared to leave your kids with a sitter?(That's okay. It IS scary the first time.)
You already know that regular, quality time away from theresponsibilities of parenting can help you be a better parent.But honestly, you'll need peace of mind about your children'scare if you are going to truly refresh yourself while you'reaway.
This is simpler than you think. You can use readily availabletools to accomplish this with ease. The first tool you'll wantto take advantage of is a babysitter checklist.
A babysitter checklist can ensure peace of mind by helping youkeep track of what's most important. For example...
-- Do you worry that your children won't be properly cared forwhile you're out for the evening? Then use your babysitterchecklist to detail what activities, what foods and whatschedule you want for your children during that time period. Abonus of this approach is that both babysitter and childrenwill be kept busy while you're away.
