Come summer and everybody is looking for ways to cool off. Mosttend to head out for the beach and stay put there as much aspossible. But while going to the beach is fun for some it canbe a difficult proposition. There are those who stay in theinteriors of the country who will not have easy access to thebeaches. But again pools may be not be everyone’schoice of activity and for them there are some other things likemaybe water gun fights which are age proof. Anyone who is readyfor some fun and some cooling off qualifies.

Though it may seem strange, water sprinklers are another way ofcooling off. Sit back in your lounge chair with a good book andturn on the sprinkler, there will never be a cooler person.It’s more civilized, does not cost a penny extra and can beenjoyed by everyone on hot sunny days. Most people cannothandle competitive and interactive water games and for themthis is a perfectly cool alternative. For all the abovementioned games one needs only a good garden hose so no one hasto go in to the house for water with messy toys whicheffectively keeps the house clean and dry and keeps the lady ofthe house free from worries.

One only needs a bit of imagination and some creative thinkingto find ways and means of keeping cool in the hot summer monthsand of course there’s always the garden hose with running water.

A small kiddy pool for the tiny tots, loungers for the oldergeneration and water guns and balloons for the younger lot andvoila! You are all set for some fun in the sun. Can there be abetter way to spend some cool quality time with family andfriends?

“ Colourful Icebergs”

Your toddler will enjoy this activity with great delight and amazement. Plus great fun on a hot day. Your children will be totally fascinated with the changing colours.

Materials

• Large container to hold the water play (Toddlers wading pool is ideal)• Different shaped balloons• Verity Food dye colours• Eye droppers

Instructions

Once you have your different shaped balloons. Add the water to each balloon, leave in the freezer for a couple of days or until frozen.

Then once your different shaped icebergs are frozen solid, cut the balloon from the iceberg, leaving you with your own unique frozen shape.

Have your large container ready for this activity, placing the icebergs in the wading pool, large bucket or baby bath. Use a verity of coloured food dye, your children will enjoy watching their icebergs change colour when the dye from the eye dropper is added.

For another frozen water activity, you can fill smaller plastic containers with coloured water for a different experience.

My grandchildren enjoy this colourful iceberg activity, its one of their favourite.
