What To Do

Help your children put their hand onto a piece of paper and open up their fingers, trace around the outline of their hand. Get your children to cut around the outline of their hand print. Older members of the family may like to help with this.

Do the same with your children’s foot print. Get the rest of the family involved, this is where the toddler learning gets interesting, different sizes and comparing the size. Ask your children to put them in size order (smallest to largest.)

Once this is done, get your children to glue their print size on a piece of paper adding some colour if they wish, then use it as a wall hanging in their bedroom. Your children will also like to compare their size later on. It’s surprising when you compare just how much they have grown!

Have Fun!

Sand Numbers And Letters
toddlers activity & kids learning guide learning activity for toddler

We all know how quickly our younger children learn. Making sand letters and numbers is a great outdoor learning activity. Add colour to the fun with food colouring, bright sand numbers and letters will attract your young learner quicker.

What you will need:

• Cardboard

• Wood Glue

• Fine beach sand

• Food colouring

What To Do:

Help your children cut some cardboard into 36 pieces of the same size. Write a letter of the alphabet and the numerals 1 to 10 on each piece of card making the letters and numbers big.

Your children will enjoy tracing over the letters and numbers with glue on their brush. Now its time to add your sand, colour the sand, and then sprinkle it over your numbers and letters on the cards you have made.

When your colourful letters and numbers are dry, let your children run their fingers lightly over the numbers and letters sand cards to get the idea of how the number or letters are formed and to feel the texture of the sand.

Learning numbers and letters will be so much fun for children using their very own sand cards, before you know it your child will be making bigger cards learning to do their name to hang on the bedroom door.
