Since it is normally a good idea to prepare for major life
changes, here is a check list that can help you prepare for your
baby. Preparing for your pregnancy is a must just like preparing
for college, school and retirement are a must. A baby will
change many things in your life and there is a lot of planning
that goes into being ready such as, emotional, physical and
financial plans. Being ready will make for a smoother transition
and a better future for all involved.
The most important thing comes first and that is the decision
to become a parent. It just may be the most important decision
that you make in your lifetime so talk to your doctor, friends
and family. Another good idea is to read as many books,
magazines and articles on the topic as you can to get as broad a
picture as you can when planning for a healthy pregnancy.
A visit to your doctor is a must if you are planning a
pregnancy. Your doctor will perform a checkup with a background
check of any history of family illnesses to make sure that you
are in the best physical condition for the pregnancy to come.
Your doctor may check you for any sexually transmitted diseases
and advise you to stop taking any over the counter medications.
If you have been trying to get pregnant for longer than a year a
fertility test may be in order. No worries about it as there is
still a good chance for conception. Lastly your doctor will make
sure that all your vaccinations are up to date including
tetanus, hepatitis B and measles.
Stay very far away from hazardous chemicals. It can be a
dangerous situation if either you or your significant other has
been exposed to things such as heavy metals, chemical fumes from
work, dry cleaning fluids, hazardous chemical or radiation. Ask
your doctor and get advice on continuing to work in conditions
which may be harmful to your baby.
Things such as drugs, alcohol or smoking can be harmful to your
baby so avoid that at all costs. It can affect your baby's birth
weight or cause it to be premature. It could develop birth
defects or other complications that are just much better for all
to avoid. There is as much as a 64% increase in the chances for
birth defects from a parent that smokes.
A good, nutritional diet is essential for a healthy mother and
child. Take supplements that your doctor recommends and folic
acid is also a good idea. Your diet should be rich in calcium,
iron, vegetables and fruits. Cereals that are fortified are a
good option for breakfasts.
Make sure to get regular exercise because it is important to
stay in shape. It should not be overly strenuous more like
swimming, yoga or walking can help to keep you fit and your
stress levels lower. Start meditation and breathing exercises to
help you remain calm and peaceful. Make sure to take part in
other activities that you enjoy doing such as reading or music.
Get the support of friends and family by talking with them and
spending time with them. Don't be afraid to ask them for help if
you need it or are feeling stressed
There will be a fluffy of bills when the baby comes so make
sure that you are financially prepared for them. Make sure to
save for yours and your baby's future.

“ Baby, Child And Pregnancy” Free toddlers activity & child discipline guide article new parent
Anyone that has ever been a parent will agree to the fact that
having a baby is a completely life changing experience. From
conception and the start of the pregnancy all the way through to
the birth, having a baby has a huge impact on the lives of both
a mother and a father.
For all woman the period during which they are pregnant sees
many changes to the body. These changes are both physical and
hormonal and include fatigue and an increase in weight. The
hormonal changes that occur can induce mood swings and feelings
of depression in pregnant women. By week seven of a pregnancy
the mother-to-be starts to feel the aforementioned side effects
and the baby's heart begins to develop.
Throughout a woman's pregnancy the baby continues to develop
and by weeks nine to twelve the foetus has many of the organs
and features of a human. Support groups and classes are
available for pregnant women and their partners to help them
through what can be a testing time. Qualified professionals can
help the woman and partner to deal with any mental or physical
issues that arise during pregnancy and also help prepare them
for the actual time of birth.
The baby continues to grow steadily until around week forty of
the pregnancy when the baby is born. Most people choose to give
birth in a hospital under the supervision of hospital staff and
doctors. Others may choose to have a water birth or home birth,
for which they will need to ensure they have a qualified midwife
on hand in order to aid the process. Giving birth is obviously a
very traumatic and dangerous time for both mother and baby.
Although most women have a natural, vaginal birth, some women
choose and some women need to have a caesarean section. This
involves doctors making an incision through the mother's abdomen
and uterus (laparotomy and hysterotomy) in order to deliver the
bay or babies. According to the World Health Organisation,
around 10% to 15% of all births are now performed using
caesarean section.
Once a baby is born it can again prove to be a very testing
time for both parents. Problems include post-natal depression
which is brought on by feelings of inadequacy and unsuitability
to be a parent and can be treated by counselling and support.
Many new parents experience sleepless nights due to the need for
newborns to be fed every three hours. These sleepless nights can
lead to irritability and mood swings.
Despite these problems and trials during and after pregnancy,
there is no doubt that having a child is amongst the most
rewarding experiences anyone can ever encounter. Many of the
problems that lead to new parents being put under pressure
throughout pregnancy and early years, settle down and ease off.
This allows both parents and the child to enjoy the experience
and joy that childbirth brings.
