Learn Magic Card Tricks
Some card tricks commonly considered magic tricks require fairly good manual dexterity in order to shuffle the deck, palm a card, and do a double lift or a pinky block. Others require careful shuffling, counting and moving stacks of cards around in just the right order to get the desired results.
Here's a magic card trick that requires very little preparation and doesn't even require any particular dexterity in order for you to make it look good. In fact, this is a magic card trick that a child could easily do and make it look good. The important thing is to practice until you've got the movements perfected and to practice your patter as well.
Advance preparation is to find two cards of the same suite and class, such as two queen of diamonds cards. One of these cards should be placed in your wallet. The other matching queen should be placed on top of the deck that's on the table. On one side of the wallet place a small piece of magician's tape or double-sided tape.
When you are ready to begin the trick, ask a member of the audience to come forward and pick a card from the deck. Ask them to place it on top of the stack of cards on the table without looking at it. Then, pull the wallet from your pocket and talk about how you are able to make predictions of the future. Tell your audience that in your wallet is proof of your statement.
During your spiel, casually lay the wallet, sticky-tape side down on the deck of cards. The top card which is the one your audience member chose will stick to the wallet due to the sticky tape, but don't let the audience see the card and tape. Open the wallet slowly, making the suspense last and pull out the queen of diamonds cards that you placed there earlier.
Then slowly turn the top card over revealing the queen of diamonds on that card and the match with the one pulled from your wallet. It's important to let no one see the unknown card which is stuck to your wallet.
Another card trick which does require an accomplice, but is easy to do and makes it appear that you can read minds is similar to a Whispering Queen trick. First you make a point of pulling the Queen of Diamonds out of the deck and show everyone that you have it. Then proceed to deal a nine card array face up, 3 by 3 cards, taking note of which nine cards are where. Have an audience member lightly touch one of the cards, while you have your back turned. You can even hold the red queen up saying she is taking note of which card was selected so she can tell you.
Then, hold the card up to your ear as if you are listening. After building the suspense, hand the queen to your accomplice and ask him to examine the card to make sure it's not a mini camera and no mirrors, etc. Once he has examined the card saying nothing is out of the ordinary with it, he will be pre-instructed to lay the card down casually in front of him in the same position as the card selected by the audience member.
Then it is an easy matter for you to select the correct card from the display, and your audience won't be able to figure out how you knew which card to select.

“Simple Recipes For Small Hands”
Easy treats to try at home with your little one
"Mommy, what are you cooking? Mommy, what's for dinner? Can I help? Please! I want to help! I want to HELP! I want to..." (Plea muffled by full-scale fake sobs and writhing on the kitchen floor).
Does that scenario seem familiar? That's what dinnertime in our home used to sound like. My first solution? Like so many other unsuspecting yet well-meaning moms, I gave my four-year-old son pots and pans, with a few uncooked beans in each, and a big wooden spoon. The result? A four-year-old banging pots and pans with a big wooden spoon while I slide across the floor on uncooked beans.
That was the old days. Now when it's time to start dinner, I make sure that I plan at least one easy dish that my son can make on his own. I lay out all of the ingredients, chopped and peeled if necessary, along with the appropriate bowls and utensils onto the table. My son feels better knowing that he makes a real contribution to our meal, instead of just background noise. I love the extra time it gives us to discuss how our days went, and to plan tomorrow's entrees.
Here are a few of his favorite treats to try at home with your children:
Sandwich• Shapes: bread; favorite sandwich fillings; butter knife; cookie cutters. Make your favorite kind of sandwich. Use the cookie cutters to create different sandwich shapes.
Guacamole Dip: mashed avocados; chopped tomatoes;• chopped onions; oregano; salt; bowl; spoon. Mix ingredients into the bowl.
Cheese Burritos: tortillas; shredded cheese; paper plate; toothpick;• microwave. Sprinkle shredded cheese onto a flat tortilla. Roll one end over and over until it looks like a burrito. Poke a toothpick through the burrito to hold the shape. Place on a paper plate and heat in the microwave for about fifteen seconds.
Fruit Salad: sliced apples; pineapple; pears; other favorite• fruits; bowl; spoon. Mix ingredients into the bowl.
Instant Pudding:• package of instant pudding; milk; bowl; spoon. Mix ingredients into the bowl and chill in the refrigerator.
No-Bake Banana Crunch Cookies: sliced• bananas; graham crackers; plastic bag with seal; plate. Place graham crackers into a plastic baggie and seal. Crush the crackers with your hands into crumbs. Put the banana slices into the baggie with the crumbs and seal the bag. Shake the bag well to coat the bananas with crumbs. Serve on a plate.

Miniature Gingerbread Houses
What You Need:
Single serving milk cartons, empty and washed
White Icing [store bought or recipe]
Graham Cracker Squares
Decorations, candies, sprinkles or other holiday treats
How to Make::
Get organized first.
Have all of your decorations, candies and such in individual bowls, containers or bags.
Prepare white icing/frosting if you are not using store bought.
Each person should have their own single serving milk carton.
Place your carton on a sheet of waxed paper on top of heavy cardboard or a paper plate.
Attach graham cracker squares to sides of carton by spreading icing/frosting on carton and pressing cracker firmly onto carton.
Do the same for the roof using two graham cracker squares. For area between sides and roof - cut a graham cracker in half on diagonal to form a triangle and attach the same way.
Once you have your sides and roof attached use icing/frosting to attach decorations and candies to your house.
You can pipe icing/frosting into the cracks with a cake decorator or with a plastic bag filled with icing/frosting.
Use your imagination to create windows and doors with different shaped and colored candies. Add other elements as you wish.
You can spread icing/frosting around your house on the paper plate or waxed paper to form a base that looks like snow.
Once your creation is complete you can allow to dry over night and use as a decoration year after year.
Or, you can gobble it right up!
This is even more fun to make with a group of your friends or family members! Enjoy and have fun!
Positive Parenting Resources:
Babies And Bedtime Fussiness
It is a big achievement for the mother if the baby sleeps uninterrupted throughout the night. However, if the baby is not sleeping well then you must start thinking about his day time activities and how these are affecting his sleeping pattern.
The baby's biological clock is not yet set up and if you don't set a routine for them they find it difficult to settle down. Thus you must follow a fixed pattern. They automatically begin to understand when they are supposed to play and when to sleep and so on. When they are small we help them by setting a routine and we follow the routine as far as possible.
For instance, in the mornings they can learn that it is bath, then feed, and then play. At evening they can learn that a story, feed and then lullaby is bedtime routine. Thus, if you follow this pattern for a while then the kids start remembering it.
You must also keep track of the times your baby has slept during the day. The baby may not go to bed at night because he may not be tired enough. You must play sufficiently with the baby to make him tired by the end of the day. You must also help him in discovering new things and stimulate him during the day. If you are not doing so, then you may have to change your own habits. The baby will then sleep soundly at night.
It varies with the age of the baby, but in any case he must not take long naps during the day. A baby who is of few months of age should at the most sleep for half an hour. The new born must sleep for a longer period of time. You should not allow the Baby to sleep as much as he wants during the day. If you do so you are sure to have problems at night.
It is good for the baby if you can take him somewhere during the day. You may take the little one to your friend's house, or to a park or even to the shopping mall. The baby loves the change and is stimulated too.
