Inspiring Parenting Quotes:
"If you want a baby, have a new one. Don't baby the old one." -
Jessamyn West
"There is no finer investment for any community than putting
milk into babies." - Winston Churchill
Kids Activities:
Not only do kids of all ages love to play games, games are a creative and inexpensive way to entertain children. With a little imagination you will soon have them making up their own games!
Whether you're looking for birthday party games or just something to keep the little ones busy for a little while, I think you'll find these games easy to learn and fun for all ages.
Five Little Firefighters activity
Five little firefighters (show five fingers)
Sleeping in a row (rest cheeks on hands & close eyes)
Ring goes the bell-
Down the pole they go. (Pretend to slide down pole)
They jump on the engine (Jump Up)
And put out the fire. (Pretend to squirt with a hose)
Now they're back home-
My, but they're tired. (Stretch and yawn.)
Board Games and Card Games-
Fun for the whole family or just two bored kids looking for something to do on a rainy day. For younger children these games help them with numerical skills, taking turns and gamesmanship, as well as the concept of chance and that anyone can win the game.
Super for holidays as they are easy to set up and can last for hours. There are many card games to learn from easy kids games right up complicated ones for teenagers and adults.
Best of all, the only equipment needed is a deck of cards. Board games like Scrabble and Monopoly have been played for generations and will continue to be, unless everything becomes computerised!

Child Arts & Crafts Activities:
“Childs Hand Prints Christmas Wreath”
What You Need
• Muslin (light colored fabric), or firm cardboard paper - any size
• Tempera / acrylic paint, green and red
• Paintbrushes
• Pencil
How To Make It
1. Cut muslin square to desired size.
2. Trace a “doughnut” circle in pencil for the desired size of your wreath.
3. Paint green paint onto your child's hands and randomly place their “handprints” (with the fingers facing the outside of the circle) around wreath continue until you have a nice full wreath, but not so much as to cover the hand imprints
4. Using red paint on paintbrush (or kids fingertips) make “berries” scattered randomly around the wreath
Positive Parenting Resources:
Start enjoying the Christmas rituals this year and create your own family traditions
I love Christmas time - not because it's a religious holiday - but because it is so wonderfully festive with decorations EVERYWHERE you go, people trying to be nice to each other, tons of gifts and of course, the gorgeous Christmas trees to delight us all.
We love these things because they are rituals that remind us of our essential goodness. Christmas may commemorate the birth of Christ, but it has a longstanding tradition that has nothing directly to do with that.
It's about celebrating our blessings. Jews and Muslims and Buddhists and even atheists have a right to do that. Let's let them into the Christmas game. Let's end this silly bickering, this absurd and illogical political correctness about "Christ-mas" as if it was a multi-cultural "crime", including banning Christmas trees from public view, and instead just include all our friends and neighbours in our annual celebrations of GRATITUDE!
Christmas is about love and sharing. And the fun of it is in the rituals we observe to experience that love.
We use rituals to convey beliefs, ideas, and feelings from one generation to another. Rituals needn't be ancient to work. And you don't have to be among the chosen few to enjoy them.
Start enjoying the Christmas rituals this year. Or you can create your own. Here are some ideas:
Make cookies in Christmas shapes - wreaths, angels, Santa Clauses, Christmas trees - and use them as ornaments for your tree.
Make some gifts a tradition. You might, for example, get your wife a new pair of earrings every year or add to your son's collection of sports memorabilia.
Take a family walk around the neighborhood to look at Christmas decorations.
Reserve a special activity for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day. Maybe take a plate of homemade candies to several close friends, or settle down after dinner to read aloud from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" (get your free copy download at the bottom of this message!)
Take secret snapshots of family members or friends throughout the year, and then present the photos on Christmas in an album or special frame.
Start a "white elephant" tradition, exchanging last year's worst gifts with friends and family.
Smear pinecones with peanut butter and birdseed and hang them on your trees and bushes. Especially do this if you live with a White Christmas, as the wildlife need the extra nutrition in their winter scarcity.
Make it a tradition to prepare a certain food or beverage together and serve it every year while opening your gifts: mulled wine or cider, eggnog, caramel corn, or roasted chestnuts, for example.
Write a note to yourself and stow it in your stocking for next year.
If you'd like to add some international flair to your holiday celebration, try these Christmas traditions from around the world:
Make - and break - a traditional Mexican pinata. You can create your own or buy one. Then fill it with candy and coins. Children will love hitting it until it breaks and spills its treasure.
Use Christmas to honor family - both living and departed. In Finland, people make Christmas Eve visits to the gravesites of their loved ones. They light candles on the graves at dusk, then gather together for a big family meal. After dinner, Father Christmas makes an appearance, bringing presents for all the children.
Instead of hanging stockings on the mantle, set out your shoes. This tradition started in Italy, where La Befana (the female version of Santa Claus) fills the children's shoes with toys, candy, and fruit.
Participate in the Swedish St. Lucia candlelit parade.... find out more about international traditions and adopt one for your family to share each year as part of YOUR FAMILY traditions for the Holiday Season and New Year time of Celebration.

The teacher in our Bible class asked a woman to read from the Book of Numbers about the Israelites wandering in the desert.
"The Lord heard you when you wailed, "If only we had meat to eat!" she began. "Now the Lord will give you MEAT. You will not eat it for JUST one day, or two days, or five, or ten or 20 days, but for a MONTH, until you LOATHE it."
The woman paused and asked, "Hey, isn't that the Atkins diet?"

My Daughter told me she needed a calculator for her maths homework. I handed her one, then asked, "What would you do if you had no calculator and had to work it out in your head?"
"That's cheating, Mummy," she said. "We're not supposed to USE OUR HEADS."

My colleague and I were making a sales call to a rural church.
At the end of our presentation to the church committee, the chairman knelt before the alter.
After about a minute of silent prayer, he returned and announced in a solemn tone, "the Lord tells me we should wait a while on this purchase."
My colleague responded by walking to the altar and kneeling down.
Then he returned to the group, looked at the chairman, and declared,
"He wants to talk with your again."
