Inspiring Parenting Quotes:

"You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment."
- Dave Barry, "Things That It Took Me 50 Years to Learn"

"It sometimes happens, even in the best of families, that a baby is born. This is not necessarily cause for alarm. The important thing is to keep your wits about you and borrow some money."
- Elinor Goulding Smith

Kids Activities:

FreeToddlersActivity&DisciplineGuideNot only do kids of all ages love to play games, games are a creative and inexpensive way to entertain children. With a little imagination you will soon have them making up their own games!

Whether you're looking for birthday party games or just something to keep the little ones busy for a little while, I think you'll find these games easy to learn and fun for all ages.

Storytelling-

Telling stories to children promotes language, listening skills and imagination.

Don't feel confined to reading from books, tell your children a special family story that helps them to know their place in the world.

How mum and dad met, how great grandpa sailed in a tall-ship to start a new life in a new country, or the story of their birth.

These tales will delight them time and time again, perhaps you have photos to help them put faces to names.

Lavender sachets

Ask the children to bring in some lavender stems - they need to dry for at least one week before making the sachets or buy some from the florist.

You need : circles of tulle or organza, circles of lace (slightly larger than tulle circles), thin elastic and ribbon. Give each child a circle of material and have them place the lavender in the middle.

Pull circle up and tie tightly with elastic. Place into center of lace circle and pull up.

Tie with ribbon. (If lace is has large gaps have children lace the ribbon through it before tying.)

Lacing
If you don't have lacing items, Draw simple everyday items on cereal boxes or other cardboard. Then use a hole puncher around the edges for lacing.

Shoe strings work great. To keep from losing them tie one end securely to one hole. The children can lace with the other end.

SEAT BELT BLUES:

Car seat belts are not one of our children’s most favored choices in life, but little known to them are the dangers associated with not wearing them.

They look at this procedure of strapping them in as some kind of punishment, not understanding why they must endure this.

What they must understand is the rules involved in traveling in the car; the Childs safety is first priority, not to mention it is against the law not wearing seat belts while traveling, it is up to the adult to ensure the child also understands the dangers without a seat belt.

The leading cause of death in children is road trauma

Room To Stretch:

Our children need to be safe in the car, but also making sure they still have free movement of their arms and legs while buckled in.

Find the right seat belt tension for each child, for a safe and more comfortable trip.

Making The Rules Stand:

If we pursue the rules with wearing the seat belts from the time our children first get into the car, it will become second nature to the child.

Remember, the car doesn’t move, and will go nowhere until everyone is safely buckled in.

Upgrading Seats:

When our child moves from the baby seat to the bigger seat in the car, we need to tell him how proud we are of him for the great job with wearing his seat belts in the previous seat, and when he is old enough he will be able to sit in the front with mum or dad.

Quiet Up Front:

If our children hear us saying to others how we hate having to wear seat belts, as little ears often listen, they will feed off this comment and begin to resist wearing their seat belt.

Training Program:

Letting our children know how we expect them to behave when in the car and sticking to it, is the only way.

Praise them when they are doing the right thing, staying in their seat belts and sitting safely, but also make them aware of what could happen if things went wrong.

Things I Learned From Noah's Ark

Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark.

1. Don't miss the boat.

2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.

3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

4. Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

6. Build your future on high ground.

7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

9. When you're stressed, float awhile.

10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

11. The whole world can change in only 40 days.

12. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Have a fantastic day!
