Inspiring Parenting Quotes:

"Getting down on all fours and imitating a rhinoceros stops babies from crying. (Put an empty cigarette pack on your nose for a horn and make loud "snort" noises.) I don't know why parents don't do this more often. Usually it makes the kid laugh.
Sometimes it sends him into shock. Either way it quiets him down. If you're a parent, acting like a rhino has another advantage.
Keep it up until the kid is a teenager and he definitely won't have his friends hanging around your house all the time."
- P.J. O'Rourke

"It is a pleasant thing to reflect upon, and furnishes a complete answer to those who contend for the gradual degeneration of the human species, that every baby born into the world is a finer one than the last."
- Charles Dickens

Kids Activities:

FreeToddlersActivity&DisciplineGuideNot only do kids of all ages love to play games, games are a creative and inexpensive way to entertain children. With a little imagination you will soon have them making up their own games!

Whether you're looking for birthday party games or just something to keep the little ones busy for a little while, I think you'll find these games easy to learn and fun for all ages.

A Bubble Blowing Activity that will Blow the Kids Away!

I bet you haven't given this blowing bubble activity any thought as a child party activity?

I'm not talking about little kids blowing little bubbles from those little containers - no, I'm talking about blowing HUGE bubbles. I bet you didn't even know that it was possible? Yes, your bigger kids and their friends can have a lot of fun with this blowing bubble activity and what's more, it's inexpensive too... especially if you know how to make the right bubble solution and tools.

I'll give you a few recipes to try out and also a couple of tool ideas. You can have lots of fun experimenting with the mixtures and creating your own original bubble making tools.

Bubble Tools

There are so many things around you that can be used to make bubbles. Wire hangers bent into different shapes, empty milk containers, string, plastic bowls, or even your bare hands held in the right position. Make a circle with your thumb and index finger or make an even bigger circle using both hands' thumbs and index fingers.

Bubble Solution

The really big bubbles need lots of solution which can get quite expensive. It's therefor a lot more economical to mix your own.

The best detergents to use are Joy and Dawn detergents but you need to experiment to see what works best for you. You also need either glycerine or white Karo Syrup. This ensures colorful, sturdy bubbles. Glycerine can be bought from most drug stores, but it is expensive. Karo Syrup is available at the grocery store and is less expensive.

Amazingly enough, not any water is suitable! Hard water does not work whereas soft water does. Try using your tap water, but if you fail to get good bubbles, try using distilled water.

Solution 1:

1 Part Dawn Ultra/Joy Ultra : 15 parts distilled/soft water : 0.25 part glycerine/white Karo Syrup

Solution 2:

1 Part Regular Dawn /Regular Joy : 10 parts distilled/soft water : 0.25 part glycerine/white Karo Syrup

Solution 3:

2 Parts Regular Dawn /Regular Joy : 4 parts glycerine : 1 part white Karo Syrup

Most importantly - just have FUN!

Blue Birds

Cut out the bird body. Trace circles (head), wings and beaks, one for each child.

The children cut out the traced patterns. Use blue construction paper for the body and head, yellow for the beaks, and white or light blue for the wings.

Have the children draw in the eyes and color in the wing if they want. Write their name on the wing and hang them around the room.

“Bed Wetting Remedies”

We as parents wonder if our child wetting the bed at the age of three years is normal, so off to the doctors we go.

Most doctors will tell you not to worry so much, that even by the age of five there are still 10 percent of children wetting their beds, even if your friend’s children are all dry through-out the night.

The average age of dryness is around 33 months, even after the age of five children wet their beds.

About 15 percent of children after the age of five is cured each year right through until it becomes a rarity in the Teen years.

By the time our children are five and still wetting through the night, we find comfort in knowing our child is not the only one at this age still wetting through the night.

From a study done in the past there was strong evidence that almost 70 percent of bed-wetting had a parent or sibling with similar problems due to genetics.

Boys are the ones more likely to be the bed wetter, where as the older child, who wets through the day seems to be almost completely confined to girls.

A lot of doctors get somewhat worked up upon hearing of a child who regresses back to bed-wetting. They believe the regression would be caused by an infection or emotional trauma.

Although an infection can cause weakness with the wetting problem, there is usually pain or urgency associated with the evidence.

As for the emotional trauma, there is a large relation to this also being a triggering factor.

Treatment For Bed Wetting…

The best time to start training children for nighttime is when you get a few nappies that have survived the whole night unscathed.

It is best to wait until the warmer weather, when children are warm and in a warm bed they excrete fluid through sweating, but when this is reversed as in the colder weather the child in the cold bed won’t sweat and ends up with a full bladder. The outcome of this is a wet bed and a bad start to the day.

Once the warm weather is here and the nappy is gone, all that’s required is a good quality waterproof mattress liner, some good encouragement and if need be a little more patience.

Pediatricians are taught that stopping a child’s fluids early in the night is going to do very little to nothing to prevent a wet bed.

Others believe to minimize the intake of fluids or at least being aware and control the amount from six pm onwards, for this allows any excess fluid to be excreted through urination before bedtime.

Less fluid assists with a smaller amount in the bladder for over night, also taking the child to the toilet before you retire for the night helps creates a routine for, wake up, its toilet time, providing its not too upsetting for the child.

When our child has a dry bed we need to give him all the positive encouragement possible. If it’s a wet bed, make him aware you are not as happy with a wet bed as a dry one; don’t punish your child as it will only lead to more wet mornings due to nerves.

By the age of three and a half children should be going to bed without the aid of a nappy regardless of being wet or dry.

This will depend on the child a lot, not to mention the parent’s ability to cope with the amount of wet sheets and pyjamas. Once you have decided no more nappies, there’s no turning back. Now all you can do is wait and hope nature takes over pretty quick.

There are some special medications available that tend to only work in the short term. If a child is still bed wetting at the age of five a urine alarm system is another option, it has been said it has helped over 2/3’s of children.

How To Get A Positive Mind Set

Eliminate negative expressions of thought and speech. You may not think you have very many, but if you really look at a whole conversation you’ve just had, you will see the total effect of those seemingly harmless negative thoughts.

They have cluttered up your conversation and the total effect is what conditions the mind negatively.

Analyze your conversational habits. Do you say, "I’m afraid I’ll screw up." Or "I’m always wrong anyway." Or "I can never seem to get anywhere on time." Or "I can’t do that."

It’s surprising how fast they accumulate. If you say something enough times, your brain starts to accept it as true, and encourages it to happen more often.

How does a successful person program his/herself for success? They give instructions to their brains repeatedly.

Realize you are not programming success into your life if you are continually programming failure in even the littlest of things. Pay attention to your thoughts.

Encourage success in little areas of your life so that you are ready and able to succeed in the big areas.

Quotable Quotes Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.

Every time I walk into a singles bar I can hear Mom's wise words: "Don't pick that up, you don't know where it's been!"

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Whoa! That was fun!"

Marriage changes passion. Suddenly you're in bed with a relative.

I don't do drugs. I get the same effect just standing up real fast.

I live in my own little world. But it's OK. They know me here.

I don't approve of political jokes. I've seen too many of them get elected.

I love being married. It's great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose-fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose-fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place!

When I was young we used to go "skinny dipping," now I just "chunky dunk."

Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they can in prison?

Brain cells come and brain cells go, but FAT cells live forever.

I saw a woman wearing a sweat shirt with "Guess" on it. So I said "Implants?" She hit me.

If raising children was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called LABOR!
