Not only do kids of all ages love to play games, games are a creative and inexpensive way to entertain children. With a little imagination you will soon have them making up their own games! Backyard Campouts: The Perfect Nighttime Activity
Each year, millions of Americans head out to their local campgrounds. Camping in the great outdoors is any camper’s dream; however, not everyone is able to camp at a campground or state park. If you find it difficult or impossible to go camping, you may want to consider backyard camping. You may very well find that it is the perfect backyard activity, especially in the evening. Although camping in your backyard may not seem glamorous, it can be a fun and exciting adventure. In fact, it is an adventure that thousands of families enjoy each year. Backyard camping is popular for a wide variety of different reasons. One of those reasons includes the ease of camping. If you are an avid camper, it is likely that you may know alto well how hard to can be to make it to your campsite. Not only do you have to worry about getting yourself to the campsite, but all of your supplies as well. And, imagine if you forgot anything! In most cases, backyard camping cuts down on the hassle of most camping trips. Backyard camping is also popular because it allows campers to camp is a safe area. Unfortunately most campers, while camping on public grounds, are unfamiliar with their surroundings. Not only may they be unfamiliar with the land, but they may also be unfamiliar with other campers. Unfortunately, in today’s society it is just too much of a risk for some individuals. If physical safety is a concern of yours, that concern can almost completely be eliminated with backyard camping. Not only will you know the area, but you also know who or what should be in your neighborhood. As previously mentioned, backyard campouts are popular among those with children, especially young children. When it comes to camping, there are many children who are not at the right age to go. Whether it is due to unfamiliar territory, uncomfortable sleeping spaces, or being away from what they know, there are many children that are unable to handle a camping trip. However, as a parent, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to enjoy camping. With backyard camping, everything should workout for everybody. Not only will be camping in the outdoors, but you will also be near your home, in case you need anything for your children. While backyard campouts are ideal for those with small children, campouts are also fun for everyone else. Many individuals, including adults without children, enjoy backyard camping because it is convenient, safe, and free. Most public campgrounds, in the United States, charge a fee for campers. While this fee will vary from location to location, it can get quite expensive. That is why backyard camping is so popular in the United States. If you are interested in having a backyard campout, you will have to decide which supplies you will need. Depending on your preference, you may be able to sleep in a tent or underneath the stars. In addition to sleeping equipment, you may want to think about backyard toys, food, drinks, and snacks. By preparing for your backyard campout, you should have everything that you need. Proper planning will also prevent you from having to go inside your home. Avoiding your home as much as possible, even though you are in the backyard, is a great way to make the most out of your backyard camping adventure. Visit for our Free Kids Games & Activities from A to Z Easy Kids Recipe: Quick and Easy Snacks For Your Toddler Your growing toddler needs to snack quite a few times a day in addition to eating regular meals with the rest of the family. Here are a few quick and easy snack ideas that you can put together in just a few minutes. You toddler will enjoy these yummy snacks.
Ham and Cheese Crackers
Cut up some pieces of ham and cheese and serve them with some crackers. If you want to make it fun, use a cookie cutter to cut fun shapes out of the cheese.
Fruit Dip
Caution, this can get a little messy!
Cut up some fruit in bite size chunks and serve with a small bowl of yogurt. Encourage your toddler to dip the fruit in the yogurt. This is an easy way to get your toddler to eat a serving of fruit, while also getting some extra calcium and protein in his/her diet from the yogurt.
Low Sugar Cereal
I always keep a box of low sugar cereal like cheerios in my pantry. They make a great snack with a little milk, or even just a bowl of dry cereal. Dry cereal also make a great take-along snack. Just throw a serving in a Ziploc bag and toss it in your purse.
Veggies and Dip
Keep some cut up veggies in the fridge. Small pieces of carrot, peeled cucumber, celery as well as small sections of broccoli and cauliflower all make great finger food for toddlers. Make sure the pieces are very small to prevent choking or steam them to soften them up. Serve with a little ranch dressing if desired.
Peanut Butter Sandwich
A PB&J has been a snack staple for ages. Mix things up by toping the peanut butter with some thin slices of apple or banana instead of the jelly. Or try smearing the peanut butter on a tortilla. Add jelly and roll it up. Cut the rolled up tortilla into strips for a fun new way to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Quick Cheese Quesadilla
Place a soft tortilla on a microwave safe plate. Top one half with cheese and fold the other half over it. Microwave 30-60 seconds or until the cheese is melted. Cut into wedges and let it cool a little before serving.
Quick Smoothie
Throw half a banana or some berries in a blender along with some vanilla yogurt and a splash of milk. Add a little ice if desired and blend until smooth. Serve in a sippy cup or with a straw for a quick fruit smoothie. Your toddler will love drinking a milkshake for a snack.
Give these fast, easy and healthy snack ideas for your toddler a try. By the way, these make great snacks for everyone else in the family as well – including mom.

Positive Parenting Resources:
A Parenting Tip - Create A Sane Holiday Season Now
Could you benefit from a useful parenting tip with practical
applications? Most parents can. As a mother and a business owner
who has worked with hundreds of moms over the past few years, I
often hear the same thing. "This year, it will be different," these overwhelmed moms sigh
as the holiday season draws near. "I won't let my family do so
many activities. It won't be such a blur! We're going to have a
sane holiday this year." Starting to sound like a New Year's Resolution, isn't it? Great
idea...if only you could pull it off. Well, this year you can. I have been parenting for over 26 years. As a mom, I know how
crazy the end of the year has become for our whole culture. Not
only is there an abundance of activities for adults, but our
children have been pulled into the madness as well, with nearly
unlimited opportunities of their own. To top it off, most of
these activities are good, even excellent. Feeling a little overwhelmed just thinking about it? Me, too. So here's a parenting tip with long term consequences: let's
get on top of this situation now, while the season is still in
front of us and we actually have time to plan. Pull out a
calendar and ask yourself how you really want your holiday
season to be this year. For example... -- do you enjoy having an activity every evening? -- do you enjoy activities away from home or at home? Or a mix? -- do you want your kids to primarily do activities with their
friends or with their family? (I really hope you're choosing
family!) -- what traditions are most important to you? Baking cookies?
Sending cards? Caroling? Helping in your community? Serving in
your house of worship? -- do your children even understand *why* this time of year is
so precious? Do they understand the religious and historical
backgrounds of the holidays you celebrate? So what's the bottom line here? Stop trying to do everything
and concentrate on one or two activities that are truly
meaningful to your family. YOU decide the important messages you
want to impress upon your children this holiday season. You can
choose from the long-established traditions to teach those
messages or create brand new traditions that your family will
love embracing. Making family memories is what will stay with your family, year
after year. It's what your children will take with them into
adulthood. It is what they will form their own family traditions
on. They won't remember all the hectic activities. But they will
remember things like this: that every year, on the weekend after
Thanksgiving, we get the Christmas decorations out of storage,
snuggle up with hot chocolate, and fondly reminisce over the
history of each ornament. It's the story of our family,
remembered and added to each year. That's one of my children's favorite holiday traditions. Pretty
simple, huh? But my grown sons speak fondly of this tradition so
I know it has been important to them. And I continue it now with
my daughters. Do you see what else is going on here? Besides the warm
fuzzies, I am now much more aware of the powerful influence I
have as my children's parent. And it makes it easier for me to
*intentionally* use making memories to teach them what I believe
is most important for them to know. So what is my most excellent parenting tip for you this holiday
season? Stop going with the flow. Instead think, plan and create
your family's holiday memories this season. Be intentional with
your family's limited time (and energy), and encourage peace,
laughter and thoughtfulness during this blessed and holy time of
the year. About The Author: Colleen Langenfeld has been parenting for
