Easy Kids Recipe:

Honey Gingerbread

Honey Gingerbread is a simple and easy to prepare honey cookie. And you can decoreate it if you want to.

Ingredients

• 500g smooth flour
• 125g butter
• 190g powdered sugar
• 1 table spoon honey
• 3 egg
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 4 clove

And you need some molds to cut forms of cakes.

Decoration (optional)

• 1 egg white
• 150g and more powdered sugar

Procedure

1. Take all ingredients except one egg and prepare a smooth dough.

2. Put the last egg to cup and mix it.

3. Divide the dough on five or six parts. Take one part and make cca 3mm film from it. Now molds come handy - cut some nice forms and put them on baking tin.

4. When the tin is full, take the mixed egg and glair top of every cake.

5. Bake at 180°C for few minutes minutes, until the cakes have nice light brown colour.

6. Repeat until you used all dough.

Decorating (optional)

If you have decidet to decorate the cakes you will have to invest another time - maybe few hours if the decoration is complex.

1. Mix the egg white and sugar. You may have to add another sugar if the substance is not concrete enough.

2. If you do not have accesories needed to "paint" on cakes you can use plastic bag - just cut of corner of it to make small hole with about 1mm in diameter.

3. You can start painting now.

Easy & Fun Craft! Make Ladybug Rocks

Easy & Fun Craft! Make Ladybug Rocks

With summer coming many of us see ladybugs everywhere. Why not create some special ladybugs you can keep on the porch or even inside in some special places?

This is a fun craft that kids can do. They may need some help with putting the tape on to evenly paint a straight line, and you also may want to handle the permanent marker (for putting dots onto the ladybug) – but otherwise should be able to negotiate the project just fine on their own.

This craft does involve painting parts of the ladybugs and then leaving it overnight (or for at least four hours) to dry. This is very important to make sure the paint sets. This is the perfect craft for a weekend project to do with children – by the end of the weekend the bugs are done. Just know going into it that this is not an instant project so children won’t be disappointed.

Materials You Will Use:

Rocks that can fit into the palm of your hand. Select oval or rounded rocks. Can use larger rocks if you wish to.

Red and black tempura paints

Paintbrushes with assorted widths – medium to fine sized points

A black permanent marker

Masking tape

Scissors

Optional: gold or silver metallic paint pen (these are often toxic and are not child safe, if using with a small child be sure they do not put this in their mouths!)

_________________________________________________________________

1. Clean your rocks with warm soapy water and dish detergent. Let rocks dry.

2. Paint rocks red and allow them to dry. Drying may take four hours, or they may need to dry overnight. It is very important to let rocks dry completely before going onto the next step.

3. Take a piece of masking tape the width of your rock. We will now paint the ladybug’s head on. Place the masking tape on about 1/3 of the way onto the rock, creating a head. Now use your black paint and paint a head for the ladybug. Keep the tape on while the black paint is drying. *** When placing tape onto your ladybug, you only need to press the side that you will be painting onto the ladybug, so do not press the entire piece of tape down. Only press the side that will painted down.***

By using the masking tape – you are creating very clean and even lines. Your ladybugs will have a very tidy look to them.

4. Next we will create the black stripe down the ladybugs back. Take two pieces of masking tape and put them on the ladybug’s back, allowing for a thin stripe of red between them. Depending on how large your rock is, this could be 1/8th of an inch or even 1/4 of an inch. Paint this stripe black and allow the tape to remain on until dry.

5. Now it is time to draw dots on the ladybug’s back. You can use paint or even the permanent marker. It is your choice. Most ladybugs have many dots, but for space’s sake you will probably want to put three or four spots on each side of the ladybug’s back. Once this is dry you are done!

6. If you have several children making ladybugs consider writing their name in metallic paint pen along the side of the ladybug’s body. Your bugs are ready for summer!

12 COMMANDMENTS FOR PARENTS

In a child’s education an important factor is the parents’ expertise for this “job”. No one is born holding all the knowledge, but we can learn and understand some things from books or advice from qualified persons.

Amongst the commandments a parent should strictly follow are the following:

1. Do not underestimate your child – he can understand more than you think he does and if you make him believe you think poorly of him this might affect his development.

2. Don’t use threat – a child loves a challenge and once threatened he might probably go on and do what he wasn’t suppose to just to see if he can escape the punishment.

3. Do not bribe your child – if you are trying to get him to learn for money for example, he will fail to understand the importance of learning, all he will get from this is the importance of money.

4. Do not make a small child promise something – small children can’t hold promises so don’t force them to lie and then punish them because they did that.

5. Do not keep them under a short leash – to grow up normally children need some space, some freedom.

6. Do not use big words or too many words when you are talking to your child – keep your ideas simple and concise so he can understand every thing you have to say.

7. Do not expect an immediate and blind obedience – it is not recommended, the child has to be learned to think for his own not to follow orders.

8. Do not indulge him too mush – he can develop compartmental disorders.

9. Do not compromise when it comes to the rules of a game – the trick for a game to become educative is too have its initial rules respected.

10. Don’t impose rules that don’t go with the age of your child.

11. Do not try to inflict quilt – quilt is not an appropriate feeling for children, especially if they are little.

12. Don’t give your child orders that you don’t take seriously – your child will try to please you and giving him an order is drastic, and it becomes cruel if that order is a joke.

All these “commandments” are addressed first to the parent. But they are to be referred to by teachers and educators as well. Along with the parents, they will settle upon an attitude and strategy for the education and growth of the child, so that they can give him all the things he needs to properly develop emotional and physically.

Editor’s notes & humour:

FreeToddlersActivity&DisciplineGuide

"I decided to stop worrying about my teenage son's driving and take advantage of it.

I got one of those bumper stickers that say: 'How's My Driving?' and put a 1-900 call number on it. Then I put it on his car bumper!

At 50 cents a call, I've been making $38 a week."

Well, this has got to be the simplest, and most effective, formula for personal goal setting success ever.

You need no other formula or strategy, ever.

In order to achieve any and every goal, you simply need to answer these 3 questions.

"In order to achieve my goal....

1. What do I need to STOP doing?

2. What do I need to START doing?

3. What do I need to DO MORE OF?"

THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO THIS FORMULA FOR SUCCESSFUL GOALSETTING...
