Not only do kids of all ages love to play games, games are a creative and inexpensive way to entertain children. With a little imagination you will soon have them making up their own games!

Whether you're looking for birthday party games or just something to keep the little ones busy for a little while, I think you'll find these games easy to learn and fun for all ages.

8 Tips To Get Your Kids Enjoy Home Gardening

Dirt has always been one of the kids' best toys, so home gardening could just be one fun activity for your children. Excite them by allowing them to pick whichever plant they want to grow. Here are some tips to help you make your little ones become enthusiastic with home gardening.

1. Choose the right plants

Kids will more likely choose plants and flowers with bright colors, so have a load of varieties of plants. Examples of bright flowers are zinnias and cosmos; these will keep your children fascinated. Don't forget the sunflowers. Anything that is tall and fuzzy will surely overwhelm a kid. Make sure these plants will not cause any allergic reactions from your kid.

2. Starting seeds

Give your children the freedom to help you with the staring seeds. Some seeds might be too small for the tiny fingers, but their digits can be of help in covering them with dirt.

3. Home Gardening Memoir

To last the kids' enthusiasm until the plants grow, make them create a home gardening journal. This activity will allow them to use their imagination to sketch on what the plants will be like and write down when they placed in the ground the seeds and when they first witnessed a sprout pushing up.

4. Make sure that the garden is somewhere very visible for the kids.

Before you start home gardening, pick a spot where the kids often play or walk by. Every time they see and pass by their garden, the more they will sight changes.

5. Dirt playing

Always remember that children are fond of playing with dirt or mud. They can help you ready the soil, even if what they are only doing is stomping on the clumps. To make home gardening with the kids more fun, you can provide them with kid-sized tools to make home gardening very engaging for them.

6. Your kids own the garden

A picture of each plant will enable the children to foresee what the flowers will look like. You can also put your child's name on a placard, so everyone can see that it's their garden.

7. Playing with the water

Playing with water is right up there with playing with dirt. Look for a small watering can that they can use to water their garden. You can show them how to let the water go right to the roots of the plants. Hoses want only trouble. They are simply formidable for little hands to control.

8. Kids commit mistakes

Adults, too, are sometimes impatient. Give the kids full control to their garden. If they create a mess, let it be, it's their mess. Allow them to get pleasure from it and take dignity in their own piece of territory. Just don't forget to tell them how to clean up that mess.

The Benefits And Joy Of Crafts For Kids

Art is, or at least should be, a big part of everybody's life. It expands creativity and critical thinking, and let's be honest, it's fun! Unfortunately a lot of kids don't get the opportunity to do a lot of creative art work during their childhood years. This is where craft activities come in handy.

Crafts get your kids working with their hands and thinking critically and abstractly about how they're going to create their project. Even something as simple as creating bead necklaces or bracelets is fantastic. Different colors and patterns will emerge from your children with each new thing they create, and they will probably have a story for you about why it looks the way it does. That's fantastic, it means they're putting thought into their crafts and loving it.

Art and craft is a lot more stimulating for a young mind than watching too much tv or playing video games. It allows children to use their brain in a whole new way. It helps children to realise their creative side and express themselves in a way that they may not be able to verbally. You are also more likely to discover any hidden talents or gifts that your child might possess. Too much electronic entertainment could sadly hide a child's true creative potential for many years.

It might seem time consuming to a lot of parents having to set up craft activities and then clean up the mess after wards. But believe me the benefits far out way the negatives. You are likely to find that arts and crafts will keep your children entertained for longer stretches of time, giving you the opportunity to attend to other necessities of day to day life. Also because most children enjoy this type of activity so much, they are more likely to be enthusiastic about helping to set up and clean up after wards.

If your kids are old enough you could teach them to make something more complicated like a dream-catcher or some type of specific design. These things will take long to make, but because they're more complicated to create your child will benefit more from doing something more advanced like this.

Paint and glitter are also loved by kids all over the world. You can buy some blank t-shirts or baseball caps and let your children go to work on them. Just be careful because paint and glitter spread easily, and can make a huge mess if you're not careful. Try laying out a old table cloth, or piece of plastic sheeting to catch any spills and make cleaning up a lot easier.

You can also create a big, on-going project for your kids. Get a giant piece of cardboard or wood and put it in your basement with a bunch of paint, glitter, cotton balls and anything else you want. Then let your kids work on it for an hour or so each day, and after a month they should have an amazing and beautiful piece of work finished.

As long as your kids are using their hands and being creative when they're creating arts and crafts, you can't go wrong!

Should You Coach Your Own Kids In Sports?

If you have a child, you should ask yourself: Is it a good idea to coach my children’s teams, or should I leave the task to someone else?

I’ve been a Little League manager, I’ve coached soccer and basketball, and I’ve written a book about my experiences: 101 THINGS PARENTS SHOULD KNOW BEFORE COACHING THEIR KIDS’ SPORTS TEAMS. (Contemporary/Mc-Graw-Hill: 2000)

Whether you should follow in these footsteps depends on you, your kid, the sport, the parents, and the league.

You should consider six factors before you take the plunge, or are pushed into the water by other parents who want you to do it, saying they desperately need your help.

(1) Do you have the time?

In my book, I have a section called, “Welcome to your second full-time job!” If you work out the math of the commitment, it’s nothing less than astonishing. Practices, games, strategic planning, coordinating with other parents, league meetings, and travel to and from the sports venues adds up to a huge weekly commitment. And the season can seem insufferably long, especially in baseball or softball. Then, there’s the post-season!

(2) Do you have the right attitude to manage kids at play?

My softball team’s name was the Wildcats, and they lived up to it! You may be familiar with the expression that the task was like herding cats. Exactly!

You have to be patient, and as some adults might see it, insufferably upbeat. This is where kids learn to have a positive mental attitude, and you are their leader. If you’re a cynic, a pessimist, or simply going through a depressing patch in your life or career, please avoid this assignment.

(3) You can’t hate soccer and coach it well.

I happen to like soccer, but I didn’t grow up with it. I was a baseball, football, and basketball player, with a baseball emphasis. For me, soccer has been an acquired taste, and this is a plus. I don’t have a zillion war stories that I’m dying to share about how great I was in the sport. What a relief to the kids! If you just don’t “get” soccer, or you dislike it, admit it to yourself, and cheer politely from the stands.

(4) Will your kids be comfortable having Mom or Dad as the coach?

My daughter didn’t like the fact that I was coach because I paid more attention to the others than to her. That’s inevitable; there are a bunch of them and one of her. While I think she may have secretly liked the special status a coaching parent is given, it didn’t compensate for losing me as a full-time, dedicated cheerleader.

(5) Parents can make kid sports ugly.

A parent of a girl on my team stormed the field and made threats to me as I was standing at third base, in the fifth inning of a game, coaching. It wasn’t a happy episode. There were nasty phone calls from parents who believed their girls should have received more playing time, even if they missed a lot of games and practices.

A lot of these folks you wouldn’t have work on a car, let alone a child’s personality, but you have to accept what you’re given. Draft a kid, and the parents come along, good or bad.

(6) League officials can be, and probably are, the village idiots.

There; I said it!

For some reason community sports attract some of the strangest administrators. Power, politics, and egos seem to drive many of them, and they can drive you nuts, as well, because you are answerable to them.

Well, I didn’t tell you how wonderful it is coming to the first practice, walking onto a beautifully manicured field, or watching a child surprise everyone, including himself, by making a great, game winning play; something he’ll celebrate for a lifetime.

That’s a part of coaching, too.

So, balance everything, and make a decision that’s best for you.

And one more thing: it takes a lot of work on your part to make it play, for kids!
