Being a good mom and dad is the toughest, most important job most people will ever encounter and yet there is no license required, no training required, and no 24/7 hotline.

This is rather short-sighted onthe part of society as the cost of bad parenting is immense, butin truth the situation is not as dire as it seems. While notraining is required for new moms or dads, it is very easy forparents to learn the ways and means of good role models as well as the traps and pitfalls of bad ones. All it takes for mothers and fathers to learn more about being good rolemodels is to watch, listen, and learn.

Watching is a key element to learning more about parenting.Watch moms and dads around you and you can learn all sorts oflessons about how to interact with your child, how to disciplineyour child, and how to teach your child.

Almost everywhere youtake your child there will be other families and their children.Watching means observing but also listening. Hear the tone ofvoice as well as the words those moms and dads use.
