Parenting Tip Toddler - Do You Know The Normal Development Behavior Of Your Child

by Theresea

Parents get anxious when a child starts behaving different from their expectations. They get tense and worried just to find out later that the child was undergoing a normal development pattern.

It is useful to know what your child?s behavior so you will be in a better position to handle the situation. You can also rest and be at ease knowing your child?s unusual behavior is normal.

Not all children have the same development patterns. The behavior of a child depends on many factors, such as the home, school and neighborhood. Any of these environments can influence the child to a greater degree than the others.

Say, the parents are fond of reading and spend their time at home reading by themselves or to the children. The child recognizes their fondness for books and enjoys the wonder and fantasy of stories. As the child grows up, the child may spend most of their time reading books at the library or in other secluded areas of the school or home. People may construe this as inhibitions on the part of the child and attempt to correct this misbehavior in the child, not realizing they may be ruining the child?s love for reading.

Change the environment so the child can get a feel of the difference and adapt accordingly. Do not remove the child?s desire but rather expose them to other types of environment. If a child is fond of reading, try to bring the child to sports events. Encourage them to read about sports and try some physical activities. Praise them for their accomplishments.

Culture also has a big bearing on the development behavior of the child. Some behaviors may be considered normal in different societies or cultures. Children will notice the difference among their peers and wonder about their upbringing.

Parents should give proper guidance to the child. Different genders will have different development patterns. Boys tend to be rough while girls are more demure in their actions.

Cultures seem to be getting closer. People are becoming more multi-ethnic. People are more exposed to the different cultures worldwide and are learning to accept the behavior of other societies as normal. Your family may be situated in a neighborhood that practices a different culture and might consider your child as abnormal in their perspective.

It is the parents? responsibility to develop the child according to their desired customs and values. This however should not conflict with the prevailing traditions surrounding them. It may be better to move to a location that advocates the same values and practices.

Keep track of the development of the child. It is possible that the child may start taking on the habits of the neighbors or their friends. This may be good as the child will experience the different practices and traditions.

However, you should be watchful that the child?s development is in the manner that you see fit. There are major development milestones such as walking, eating, and talking, that should be observed and ensured that the child is developing properly.

There will be other milestones as the child grows up. Keep watch that the child?s behavior is progressing in the right direction.
