Parenting Tip Toddler For Go Biking with your Child

Parents are encouraged to spend quality time with their children. Suggestions abound on the need for communication with children. Communication can take on different forms. Sometimes, it is not essential to have verbal communication with each other.

The mere presence and non-verbal actions can also go a long way to establishing a close relationship with each other. One activity which is healthy and can create a close camaraderie is biking.

Biking through the park or other scenic locations can be enjoyable especially if you are sharing it with someone you love.

You don’t have to talk to each other – just share the experience together.

It is also a good way of staying healthy and physically fit. Before you can venture on this new adventure, you have to teach your child to bike. Have your child ride with you on the bike and stroll slowly through the neighborhood.

Point out the beautiful flowers, trees and other scenic views you see along the way. Show the child how relaxing and easy it is to bike.

Get them accustomed to riding on the bike. Once they enjoy the feel of the bike, you can proceed to teach them to bike on their own.

Get them to ride on a balance bike. It’s a two-wheeled bicycle without pedals or gears, designed for children too young to ride a proper bicycle.

It’s used to get a child accustomed to balancing themselves without the risk of running too fast or without any direction. It’s much lower to the ground and allows the child to put their feet firmly on the ground and push themselves along the sidewalk or grass.

They gradually gain confidence to push more vigorously and learn to balance. They get the feel of balancing and steering without the risk of going too fast.

Once they’ve mastered the balance bike, they can do little tricks with the bike that they couldn’t do with a heavier and larger bike. They will not need training wheels once they graduate to the larger bikes.

Balance bikes are available in wooden and metal versions. The bikes are popular among young children and are ideal for those who have the motor skills to start learning to bike.

The metal version is similar to a conventional bike without the pedals, chains and sprockets. The seat is so low toddlers are able to put their feet on the ground while seated.

Most bikes have foot rests so the child can place their feet in a safe place while coasting downhill.

Be sure the child is well protected. Falling off a balance bike can be as painful as falling off a regular bike.

Teach them to wear helmets at all times.

Get them used to the habit of wearing protective gear.

Show them the need of being alert.

Coasting downhill may be fun but they should be wary and sure that they will not hit anyone or anything crossing their path.

Show them the traffic rules and signals.

Teach them the meaning of the traffic lights.

Be sure they are prepared to go biking on their own. It’s not just a matter of biking but being safe and secure while biking that makes the ride enjoyable and happy.
